Things to talk about while coloring
Easter baskets are often filled with soft grass, decorated eggs, and small treats. This basket is woven, which means strips are laced over and under each other, the same way rugs, mats, and some fabrics are made. Ask your child what they would put in their own basket besides eggs.
Coloring ideas
Color the basket tan or brown, or alternate two browns across the woven strips for a challenge. Make the grass bright green and the big bow on the handle a spring color. Each of the five eggs has its own pattern, so give each one its own colors too.
A little learning
Counting the five eggs, then naming which one has stripes, dots, flowers, hearts, or zigzags, mixes counting with describing words. Ask which egg sits in the middle to practice position words.
