Things to talk about while coloring
Hot cocoa is made from cocoa powder, which comes from the beans of the cacao tree. Cacao trees grow in warm places near the equator, a long way from the snow. Talk about what your child likes in their mug, and blow on a pretend cup together to cool it down. Steam rises from hot drinks because warm water turns into a gas and floats up, which is what the swirls above the mug show.
Coloring ideas
Brown for the cocoa and white or pastel pink for the marshmallows makes it look cozy. The mug is the star, so add stripes, dots, or a color around the heart, and give the cookie dark brown chocolate chips. Color the steam swirls a soft gray or leave them white.
A little learning
Counting the marshmallows and the chocolate chips on the cookie gives two quick counting jobs on one page.
