Igloo made of snow blocks with a husky dog in front, coloring page

Igloo Coloring Page

A round igloo built from snow blocks has a friendly husky sitting by the door. Talk about how packed snow can actually hold in warmth. Each block is a big, easy shape, so younger kids can color one at a time.

Things to talk about while coloring

Igloos are traditional snow shelters built by Inuit people in the Arctic, made from blocks of packed snow. Snow traps air, so it works like a blanket and holds warmth inside. The husky sitting out front is a kind of dog bred to pull sleds through cold, snowy places. Ask your child how many snow blocks they think it took to build the whole dome, then count one row together to check.

Coloring ideas

Color the snow blocks in very light blue, or alternate pale blue and white for a brick-like pattern. Give the husky gray and white fur and blue or brown eyes, and leave the doorway dark so it looks like a real entrance. Pale blue snow on the ground ties the scene together.

A little learning

The igloo is a half circle, or dome, and each block is a rectangle, so it's a natural spot to name and trace shapes.
