Things to talk about while coloring
Sleds slide easily on snow because they have smooth runners and very little to catch on. Gravity pulls the sled down the hill, which is why you have to walk back up again. Ask your child what makes sledding fun and what helps keep everyone safe, like going feet first and watching for trees.
Coloring ideas
Choose a bright coat and hat so the child stands out against the white snow. The sled can be red or wooden brown, and the pine tree looks great in a deep green with a little white snow left on its branches. Older kids can add tracks behind the sled to show where it has been.
A little learning
Words like up, down, fast, and slow come up naturally when you talk about this picture, and they build position and speed vocabulary.
