Decorated Christmas tree with ornaments, star and presents to color

Christmas Tree Coloring Page

A tall tree with big round ornaments, a garland and a star waits for color. Try a color-by-instruction game: make three ornaments red, two blue and one gold. It's a festive way to practice following directions and counting at the same time.

Things to talk about while coloring

Evergreen trees like firs and pines keep their needles all winter, which is one reason people bring them indoors during the coldest part of the year. Many families top their tree with a star or an angel. Talk about how your family decorates and which ornament is your child's favorite.

Coloring ideas

Use green for the branches, then give each round ornament a different color. Older kids can turn the bead garland into a repeating pattern like red, gold, red, gold, and the three gifts underneath can each get their own wrapping paper. Yellow or gold on the star at the top gives the whole page a finished look.

A little learning

Counting the ornaments row by row from the star down to the gifts is natural counting practice, and it shows how the rows get wider toward the bottom.
