Friendly reindeer with antlers and a jingle bell collar in the snow, coloring sheet

Reindeer Coloring Page

A friendly reindeer with tall antlers and a jingle bell collar stands in fresh snow. Fun fact for curious kids: both male and female reindeer grow antlers. Brown and tan crayons work well, though a purple reindeer is always welcome.

Things to talk about while coloring

Reindeer live in cold northern places, and they are the only kind of deer where both males and females usually grow antlers. Their wide hooves work a bit like snowshoes so they don't sink into deep snow. Point out the jingle bells on this reindeer's collar, then listen for real bell sounds around town this season. In parts of the far north, people have herded reindeer for a very long time, using them for milk, travel, and warm hides.

Coloring ideas

Brown and tan work well for the fur, with a lighter shade on the belly, muzzle, and inside of the ears. Make the antlers a darker brown, and give the jingle bells a shiny gold or silver.

A little learning

Reindeer starts with R, so trace an R in the air together and think of other R words like red, run, and ribbon.
