Things to talk about while coloring
Unicorns are imaginary animals that show up in old stories and legends from many parts of the world. Rainbows, on the other hand, are real: they appear when sunlight shines through raindrops and splits into colors. Ask your child what this unicorn might find at the end of its rainbow, and let the story grow from there.
Coloring ideas
Color the rainbow bands in order from the top: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The unicorn's mane and tail can pick up a few of those same colors, and the clouds at each end can stay white with a pale gray edge.
A little learning
Saying the rainbow colors in order, top band to bottom, is color-word practice and a simple first lesson in sequencing. Counting the bumps on each fluffy cloud adds a quick number task.
