Things to talk about while coloring
A horse with wings in old Greek stories is called Pegasus, and a unicorn with wings like this one is sometimes called an alicorn. Birds fly by flapping strong wings covered in feathers, and these wings have feathers drawn in rows. Ask your child where they would go if they could ride a flying unicorn for one night.
Coloring ideas
The feathered wings are the best spot for color, so try fading from pink at the top to purple at the tips, or give each row of feathers its own shade. A dark blue night sky around the white stars makes the page feel magical, and the hill below can be a deep green.
A little learning
Counting the stars in the sky, then counting the rows of feathers on one wing, gives kids two counting jobs in one picture.
