Things to talk about while coloring
Fire trucks carry ladders, hoses, and tools that firefighters use to put out fires and help people. The long ladder on top can reach high windows. Talk about what your child should do if they hear a fire alarm, and listen together for the sound of a siren. Firefighters also visit schools to teach fire safety.
Coloring ideas
Red is classic, but some fire trucks are actually yellow or lime green, so either is correct. Make the flashing light red or yellow, and color the hose reel gray or black. Older kids can add a firefighter on the ladder or a hose spraying water.
A little learning
Fire starts with F, so make the soft F sound together and name other F words in the picture, like flashing and front. Counting the wheels and the rungs on the ladder gives kids two quick numbers to find.
