Things to talk about while coloring
School buses are yellow so they are easy to see from far away. The stop sign arm on the side swings out to tell other drivers to stop while kids get on and off. Talk about bus safety, like waiting for the bus to stop and staying seated. School bus drivers have special training to keep riders safe.
Coloring ideas
Yellow for the bus, black for the tires and stripes, and red for the stop sign makes it look real. Older kids can draw faces of friends in the windows. The windows can be light blue for glass, and the bumpers black or silver.
A little learning
Counting the windows along the side is great counting practice. Counting again from the back of the bus to the front checks the first count. Bus starts with B, so practice that sound too.
