Things to talk about while coloring

Police officers drive cars with lights and sirens so other drivers know to move aside. The lights on the roof are called a light bar. Talk about how police officers help in the community and what to do if your child ever gets lost. Police officers often visit schools and community events, which is a nice chance to say hello.

Coloring ideas

Black and white or blue and white are common police car colors. Make the light bar red and blue, and color the star badge on the door gold. Older kids can add a road with a dashed line underneath the car.

A little learning

The star on the door has five points, so count them together and name the circle wheels too. The round headlights and wheels are circles, and the windows are close to rectangles, so shape names come up easily.
