Things to talk about while coloring
This little turkey is hugging an ear of corn, a crop people grew in the Americas long before the first Thanksgiving feast. Corn kernels grow in neat rows around the cob, and one special kind of corn pops into popcorn when it gets hot. Talk about which Thanksgiving foods your child likes best and which ones they haven't tried yet. Baby turkeys are called poults, a new word most grown-ups don't know either.
Coloring ideas
Color the kernels sunny yellow, or mix red, purple, and gold like the speckled corn people hang on doors in the fall. The square buckle on the hat looks sharp in gold or gray, and the wide striped tail feathers are made for an alternating color pattern.
A little learning
The tall hat, the square buckle, and the round body make it easy to stop and name shapes like circles, squares, and rectangles as your child colors.
