Pumpkin pie with whipped cream on a plate, black and white coloring page

Pumpkin Pie Coloring Page

A whole pumpkin pie with a swirl of whipped cream sits ready for the holiday table. Ask your child what other desserts their family makes in November, then draw one on the back. Orange and tan crayons cover the big filling area quickly.

Things to talk about while coloring

Pumpkins are a type of squash, and they grow on long vines that spread across the ground. Pumpkin pie gets its warm, cozy flavor from spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. Ask your child what they would put on top of their slice, and whether whipped cream wins over ice cream. Most pumpkins turn orange in the fall, but some kinds are white, green, or even blue-gray.

Coloring ideas

A soft orange or tan works well for the filling, with golden brown around the wavy crust edge. Leave the whipped cream swirl white or give it a light gray shadow, and let older kids make the pie server shiny with silver and a wooden brown handle.

A little learning

Imagine cutting the pie into two halves, then four quarters, and draw light pencil lines to show it, a friendly first look at fractions.
