Things to talk about while coloring
Name every food on this table together: a roast turkey, a bowl of mashed potatoes, an ear of corn, and a pie for dessert. Mashed potatoes start out as potatoes that grow underground, then get boiled and mashed until they're soft. Ask your child which food they'd put on their plate first and which they'd save for last. Talk about who sets the table at your house and what jobs a small helper could take on.
Coloring ideas
Golden brown works for the roast turkey, with red and green for the little garnish around the platter. The two chairs can be a warm wood color, and kids can add a tablecloth pattern of stripes or checks across the table.
A little learning
Describing each food as hot, cold, sweet, crunchy, or soft is easy vocabulary building that kids can use at the real dinner table.
