Things to talk about while coloring
The moon in this picture is a crescent, the thin curved shape we see on some nights as the moon changes. The moon doesn't make its own light; it reflects light from the sun. This sleepy unicorn makes a calm bedtime page, so talk about what helps your child wind down at night.
Coloring ideas
Soft, sleepy colors work well here: lavender, light blue, and pale pink on the unicorn, with a white or pale gray cloud. Color the moon and stars yellow, and older kids can shade the whole background in dark blue for a night sky.
A little learning
Talking about day and night, and what we see in the sky at each time, is a gentle science conversation for bedtime. Counting the stars around the moon before bed is a calm way to end the day.
