Things to talk about while coloring
Most clovers have three leaves, so finding one with four is rare and is often called lucky. The leaves on this clover are shaped like little hearts. Clover plants also grow small round flowers, usually white or pink, that bees love to visit. Go on a clover hunt in the yard or park and see what you find.
Coloring ideas
Color each leaf a slightly different green, or make all four one bright green with a darker curved stem. For a challenge, older kids can color each leaf with a different pattern, like dots, stripes, swirls, and checks.
A little learning
Counting the four leaves and noticing that each one is a heart shape builds counting and shape recognition at once. Counting how many more leaves this clover has than a three-leaf one is an easy first subtraction question.
