Things to talk about while coloring

In Irish stories, a leprechaun hides his pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, where no one can quite reach it. Real gold is a soft, shiny metal that doesn't rust, which is why old gold coins still gleam. Talk about what your child would do with a pot of gold, and whether they would share it.

Coloring ideas

Color the round pot black or dark gray and make the coins bright yellow or gold. Older kids can leave a small white spot on each coin so it looks shiny, and the coins on the ground can be colored a slightly darker gold.

A little learning

Counting the coins spilling out of the pot and then the coins on the ground, and adding them together, is a simple first addition problem.
