This free number 3 tracing worksheet helps kids learn to write three the same way every time. Trace the dotted rows, then try the blank lines. Pick a line size, print on Letter or A4, and pair it with a quick counting game.
How to write the number 3
- Start on the left, just below the top line, and curve around to the right and back in to the middle dashed line.
- Without lifting, curve around to the right again and finish on the left near the bottom line.
Teaching tip for 3
A backward 3 looks like the letter E with round edges, and it is very common. Both bumps face right, so try "around the tree, around the tree" as you trace.
Count to 3 with real things
- Count 3 buttons into a cup
- Line up 3 toy cars
- Clap 3 times and count each clap
Writing a number sticks better when your child has just counted that many things with their hands.
