This free number 4 tracing worksheet helps kids learn to write four the same way every time. Trace the dotted rows, then try the blank lines. Pick a line size, print on Letter or A4, and pair it with a quick counting game.
How to write the number 4
- Start at the top line and slant down to the left, stopping just below the middle dashed line.
- Slide straight across to the right.
- Lift your pencil, go back to the top, and pull the tall line straight down to the bottom line.
Teaching tip for 4
Four is made in two strokes: the slanted corner first, then the tall line from the top. Starting at the top every time keeps 4 from turning into a backward h.
Count to 4 with real things
- Count the 4 legs on a chair
- Put 4 apples in a bowl
- Find 4 wheels on a toy truck
Writing a number sticks better when your child has just counted that many things with their hands.
