This free letter F tracing worksheet gives your child rows of capital F and lowercase f to trace, then blank lines to try on their own. Pick a line size for their age, print it on Letter or A4, and practice for five minutes a day.

How to write a capital F

  1. Pull a straight line down from the top line to the bottom line.
  2. Go back to the top and make a line across to the right.
  3. Make a shorter line across at the middle dashed line.

How to write a lowercase f

  1. Start just below the top line, a little to the right.
  2. Curve up and over to the left, then pull straight down to the bottom line.
  3. Cross it with a short line along the middle dashed line.

Teaching tip for F

Capital F is a capital E without the bottom line, so teach them as a pair. For lowercase f, the hook at the top bends like a cane, and the cross sits right on the middle dashed line.

Words that start with F

Once F feels easy, try the letters in your child's name with our name tracing worksheet maker. Kids practice harder when the word on the page is theirs.
