This free letter J tracing worksheet gives your child rows of capital J and lowercase j to trace, then blank lines to try on their own. Pick a line size for their age, print it on Letter or A4, and practice for five minutes a day.
How to write a capital J
- Start at the top line on the right.
- Pull straight down, then curve to the left along the bottom line and up a little to finish the hook.
How to write a lowercase j
- Start at the middle dashed line and pull straight down below the bottom line.
- Curve to the left at the bottom to make a hook.
- Lift your pencil and add a dot above, between the top line and the middle dashed line.
Teaching tip for J
Both J and j hook to the left. If the hook turns right, the letter is backward. Lowercase j also hangs below the bottom line, so give it room on the page.
