This free letter Q tracing worksheet gives your child rows of capital Q and lowercase q to trace, then blank lines to try on their own. Pick a line size for their age, print it on Letter or A4, and practice for five minutes a day.
How to write a capital Q
- Start at the top line and curve to the left, around the bottom, and back up to close a big circle.
- Add a short slanted tail that crosses the bottom right of the circle and pokes past the bottom line.
How to write a lowercase q
- Start just under the middle dashed line and make a small circle, curving up and around to the left first.
- Start at the middle dashed line on the right and pull straight down below the bottom line.
- Finish with a tiny kick up to the right.
Teaching tip for Q
Lowercase q starts with a circle like a, d, and g, and its tail kicks right. In English words, q is almost always followed by u, so trace "qu" together.
