This free letter I tracing worksheet gives your child rows of capital I and lowercase i to trace, then blank lines to try on their own. Pick a line size for their age, print it on Letter or A4, and practice for five minutes a day.
How to write a capital I
- Pull a straight line down from the top line to the bottom line.
- Make a short line across the top line.
- Make a short line across the bottom line.
How to write a lowercase i
- Pull a short line down from the middle dashed line to the bottom line.
- Lift your pencil and add a dot above it, between the top line and the middle dashed line.
Teaching tip for I
Lowercase i is only one short line, so the dot is the part kids forget. Have them say "line, then dot" each time, and keep the dot small and right above the line.
Words that start with I
Say these out loud while your child traces, or have them draw one at the bottom of the page.
